How Life Insurance Secures a Father’s Legacy

Let Father’s Day serve as a reminder to leave a legacy with life insurance. This holiday honors both fathers and father figures who have had a positive influence in our lives.

It’s a day to thank our fathers for all of their hard work and dedication, not just shower them with gifts. We should all spend more time with him and less time worrying about the gift. In the end, it is the memories you create that matter, not the gifts you give.

Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to still have their fathers in their lives, as I did when I was only ten years old.

Looking back, I did not fully comprehend the financial and emotional toll my father’s death had on my family. My mother, who was a stay-at-home mom at the time, had to pick herself up and go back to work because she was now our family’s sole breadwinner.

Fortunately, my father not only had a life insurance policy, but he had recently increased it to meet our changing financial needs.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve often wondered what would have happened to my family if my father hadn’t had life insurance, and how different my life would have been.

Would my family be able to continue living in our current home?

What would I have done to pay for college? Or would I have been able to attend college at all?

Would I have needed to work a second job to help out?

These are the kinds of questions that cross my mind every year around this time, and each year I am more grateful for what my father did for my family.

While he is no longer physically present, he will live on in our hearts and minds. My life and the lives of my family would not be the same without his responsible decision to establish a life insurance policy.

Don’t be afraid to discuss life insurance with your father this Father’s Day because the discussion should be about love and the desire to protect those who are important to you.

Giving the gift of life insurance this Father’s Day may not seem like a special gesture right now, but believe me when I say it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
