Natural Ways To Boost Your Skin’s SPF Ability

A typical skin protection regimen may involve using a sun protection factor (SPF) and avoiding excessive sun exposure. But researchers have discovered natural and effective ways to keep your skin “sun safe” this summer.

The Athens Medical School in England released a study listing certain foods that can improve the natural SPF ability of the skin.

Their study revealed that people who ate a quarter cup of tomato pasta daily had reduced incidences of sunburn while increasing their skin’s natural SPF ability by as much as a third.

In addition, antioxidants found in dark green vegetables – such as spinach – can also boost your skin’s SPF ability.

“Antioxidants such as carotenoids give foods their vibrant colors, and are critical to the photosynthetic process, protecting a plant from damage by light and oxygen,” said Sara Vance in a previous statement, a Clinical Nutritionist in the Encinitas, CA”. “By consuming plants or organism that contain these pigments, people can gain a similar protective benefit.”

With that being said, adding carrots, tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, green tea and even dark chocolate to your diet can help boost the natural sun protection ability in your body.

However, individuals adding these foods to their diet should still follow typical sun protection regimens, as excessive sun could be harmful to the skin.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States followed by lung cancer.

Individuals can protect the financial well being of one’s family by purchasing a life insurance policy before potential health conditions develop. Life insurance policies are not limited by age, sex or ethnicity as everyone can benefit from owning a policy. In addition, life insurance premiums are currently at an industry all-time low, which makes purchasing a policy even more affordable.
