Is Life Insurance A Good Holiday Gift?

With the holidays right around the corner, the LIFE Foundation, an organization that represents the life insurance industry, is offering a unique gift idea for those who want to impress their loved ones.

A life insurance policy is a way to ensure the financial stability and well-being of your beneficiaries in the event that something would happen to you.

According to one of the Foundations’ recent surveys, about one in four Americans say that a gift of life insurance for the holidays would make them feel loved, largely due to the current state of the economy.

“Our survey reveals that financial security is at the top of most minds these days, and people are seeking significant others who have it and gifts that can help them maintain it,” says Marvin H. Feldman, president of the LIFE Foundation. He suggests that such a gift “lets those dearest to you know that you love them so much that you’ll provide for them even after you’re gone.”

The group’s survey also discovers that 76 percent of women and 64 percent of men would pass on celebrating holidays if it would bring them greater financial peace of mind. This finding is consistent with other surveys that show people have been spending somewhat less on holidays and other events, including the Super Bowl, due to newfound fiscal restraint.

Many do not realize that life insurance provides much more than the means to pay off debt and final expenses. It can replace a spouses income and pay for childrens’ education. Life insurance is not just a death benefit but an income builder.

The idea of life insurance isn’t just a holiday gift giving idea. The foundation is also conducting an “Insure Your Love” year round campaign to encourage people to invest in policies for their loved ones.

A gift of life insurance becomes a real holiday blessing when financial obligations can be alleviated.  “Protecting your family’s financial future is a gift that keeps on giving,” commented Troy Hartman from Quest Diagnostics. “ It’s a timeless present and some life insurance may even grow in value over time.

Life insurance rates are also at an industry all-time low that can fit into anyone’s budget and coverage needs. So give the gift of life this holiday season.
