For people from all walks of life, life insurance serves as a valuable safeguard against unexpected tragedies that can leave loved ones financially struggling for years.
For example, even the healthiest individuals aren’t immune to the risk of choking. In fact, a survey released earlier this year found that about 28 percent of the public has actually witnessed an individual choking.
The Red Cross data also found that 42 percent of choking incidents occur at home, while 30 percent take place at restaurants and 11 percent at work.
Given the fairly common nature of this situation, one useful tip to consider is to take a CPR course offered by the Red Cross or some similar organization. This will improve one’s chances of being able to save the life of a person who has stopped breathing. Learning the Heimlich maneuver is also a basic way to potentially save a life.
Still, not everyone is lucky enough to be assisted in time by a trained safety professional or other individual. Given that reality, life insurance is an important investment to keep in mind – especially for those who are parents of young children or are caring for dependent older relatives.
